an intro on why I created this space
Thinking back to my college days, I thought I’d be a published writer. Writing was my major, I had a small column in the school paper, and I secretly thought at some point in my life, I’d be the next Carrie Bradshaw. So fast forward; that never happened!
As time past, I was writing less and less because obviously life moved on beyond college. In the meantime, I continued to pursue my career in retail, instead of following what I thought was my dream. Fashion was relevant to my life at the time and I always found myself being able to advance to the next level position. Working with women’s clothing & accessories was way more exciting than sitting at a desk challenged by writers block – and it was an easy way to make a living and stay connected to people.
So why start writing now?
For one, I’ve missed it. These past 7 days (and counting) that I’ve been “quarantined” have pushed me to get this blog rolling.
I find myself constantly defaulting to writing, and I’ve realized it’s because it’s the way I best get my message across. I can write & edit before hitting send, so I don’t have to worry that I’m forgetting about something that I wanted to say. It’s definitely how I show up as the best version of myself.
As for answering “why start a blog?”
When I’m listening to someone else talk about an issue they’re struggling with, I usually refer back to something that I’ve gone through to relate. Let’s be clear, I’m not a therapist or counselor, but I am a great listener. I may not be certified to give advice, but when asked what I would do, I make up my mind based on the circumstances and share from there.
I’m certainly not living the picture perfect life. I am however living a very content life. When faced with a challenge, I take everything into consideration and make a decision. This doesn’t mean it’s the right decision, it doesn’t mean it’s the wrong decision, and sometimes, the best decision is to wait to make a decision…at the end of the day, I live by the motto “you only live once” (very millennial of me).
This is a space where I hope you can find a story to relate to, and read through how I overcame, or made a mistake, or am still working through something. No matter what the story is, you’ll see that when my mind is made up, I take action and am ready to move on to the next thing because my life is too short to be indecisive.
Hope you enjoy the upcoming posts. Share your thoughts! Don’t forget to let me know what topics you’re interested in reading about.
This is so awesome! Best use of quarantine I’ve seen! 😍
